چکیده
Self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) can be applied to relieve colorectal obstruction secondary extracolonic malignancy (ECM), but data regarding this issue is sparse. We aimed investigate the predictive factors for technical and clinical success of SEMS placement develop simple useful strategies predicting outcome in patients with due ECM. Between January 2006 December 2018, ECM who had underwent were recruited. After identifying independent placement, we developed a prediction model using logistic analysis. The was built validated training validation set, respectively. Using model, risk stratified into low-, intermediate-, high-risk groups. A total 315 identified. Overall, 282 (89.5%) achieved success, 226 (71.7%) success. Multivariate analysis showed that severe peritoneal thickening omental infiltration, soft tissue nodule ≥ 1 cm, bowel involvement length 4 serum albumin level ≤ 3.3 mg/dL independently associated higher failure placement. incorporated these an area under receiver operating characteristic curve 0.73 (95% CI 0.65–0.81) 0.71 0.60–0.82) data. Outcome of endoscopic self-expandable metal stents in acute malignant colorectal obstruction at a tertiary center.
BACKGROUND Malignant colorectal obstruction (MCRO) by advanced colonic cancer occurs in 8-13% of colonic cancer patients. Emergent surgery carries a high mortality and morbidity risk. Endoscopic self-expanding metal stents (SEMS) may be used in acute MCRO. AIM Evaluate clinical outcome of SEMS in acute MCRO and efficacy of SEMS placement considering fluoroscopy guidance. METHODS Retrospecti...
متن کاملPalliative self-expandable metallic stent placement for colorectal obstruction caused by an extracolonic malignancy
Endoscopic stenting with a self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) is widely accepted for the management of malignant colorectal obstruction (MCRO). This procedure is effective for both palliative purposes and as a bridge to surgery. MCRO can arise from colorectal cancer (CRC) or advanced extracolonic malignancy (ECM), including gastric, pancreatobiliary, small bowel, endometrial gynecologic, or ...
متن کاملFunctional Self-Expandable Metal Stents in Biliary Obstruction
Biliary stents are widely used not only for palliative treatment of malignant biliary obstruction but also for benign biliary diseases. Each plastic stent or self-expandable metal stent (SEMS) has its own advantages, and a proper stent should be selected carefully for individual condition. To compensate and overcome several drawbacks of SEMS, functional self-expandable metal stent (FSEMS) has b...

INTRODUCTION Colonic self-expandable metal stent placement is widely used for palliation of obstructive colorectal cancer. The European recommendations for stent placement as a bridge to elective surgery in obstructive colorectal cancer were recently reviewed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of stent placement in obstructive colorectal cancer and to discuss these r...
